Knit Scarf

Knitted this beautiful shawl based on pattern available at http://make-handmade.com/2011/08/26/crafts-for-spring-lace-scarf-free-knitting-patterns/ using 2 skeins of Payette icicle thread 216 yds/197m.

I found it easier to write down the pattern and work on the stitches. Instructions followed:

  1. slip 1 purl wise with yarn in the back, k1, yo, k1, slip 1, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over, k1, yo, k1, [k9 or as desired for the garter stitch between the lace patterns], yo, k1, ssk, p1, k2tog, k1, p1, k1,  ssk, p1, k2tog, k1, yo, k1, yo, yo, k1, yo, yo, k1.
  2. k2, p1, k2, p1, k1, p3, k1, p2, k1, p2, k1, p3,[k9 or as desired for the garter stitch between the lace patterns], k8.
  3. slip 1 purl wise with yarn in the back, k1, yo, k1, slip 1, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over, k1, yo, k1, [k9 or as desired for the garter stitch between the lace patterns], yo, k1, yo,  ssk, p1, k2tog, p1, ssk, p1, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k7.
  4. bind off 4, k2, p4, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1, p4, [k9 or as desired for the garter stitch between the lace patterns], k8.
  5. slip 1 purl wise with yarn in the back, k1, yo, k1, slip 1, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over, k1, yo, k1, [k9 or as desired for the garter stitch between the lace patterns], yo, k3, yo, slip 1, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over, p1, slip 1, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over, yo, k3, yo, k1, yo, yo, k1, yo, yo, k1.
  6. k2, p1, k2, p1, k1, p6, k1, p6, [k9 or as desired for the garter stitch between the lace patterns], k8.
  7. slip 1 purl wise with yarn in the back, k1, yo, k1, slip 1, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over, k1, yo, k1, [k9 or as desired for the garter stitch between the lace patterns], yo, k5, yo, slip 1, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over, yo, k5, yo, k7.
  8. bind off 4, k2, p15, [k9 or as desired for the garter stitch between the lace patterns], k8.

Triangle shawl – crochet pattern

Inspired by a pattern I saw in Pinterest, I made this shawl. It has a nice flowery pattern. I have attempted to capture my work in words and pictures 😉 . Have fun making this pattern.

1. Make a magic ring
2. Chain 5
3. Double crochet, 2chain.
4. Repeat step 3,  5 times,  Double crochet, 1chain, Slip stitch above the 3rd chain, Chain 4
5. Treble crochet 3 times / (Treble crochet 4 times in repeat step) , 3 chain
6. Treble crochet 4 times, 7 chain
7. Repeat Step 5 and 6 , thrice for the first piece
8. For joining two pieces as shown, skip step 7, repeat step 5, 6 , 5, Treble crochet 4 times, chain3, slip stitch to one corner of other piece, chain 3, 4 treble, chain 1, slip stitch to middle of other piece, chain 1, 4 treble ,  chain3, slip stitch to the corner of other piece, chain 2, slip stitch above 4th chain
9. For joining to three pieces as shown, skip step 7,8 repeat step 5, Treble crochet 4 times, chain3, slip stitch to one corner of piece, chain 3, 4 treble, chain 1, slip stitch to middle of piece, chain 1, 4 treble ,  chain3, slip stitch to intersection of corners of two pieces, chain 3,4 treble, chain 1, slip stitch to middle of other piece, chain 1, 4 treble ,  chain3, slip stitch to one corner of piece, chain 2, slip stitch above 4th chain
10.To give a nice shape to the top edge of shawl, Half double crochet 4times, single crochet 7 times, Half double crochet 4times,chain 7, slip stitch, chain7. Repeat
11.Half double crochet over each stitch on both sides of shawl. to get a nice frill.
12. Half double crochet over each chain stitch, slip stich on other stitches on top.

 

Infinity scarf using old shale stitch

This is my first knitting project. Though it was tough initially, it is quite easy to learn. I followed the following steps :

Do old shale stitch with one color 10 times ( 40 rows ) . Followed by one repetion of  old shale stitch(4 rows) in a complementary color. Repeat till desired length is available. Join the two ends using kitchener stitch.
